What makes a winner in my ballot? I look for both unique and “beautiful.” I think weird stuff (read Lady Gaga) stays just that: Weird Stuff.
My favorites were as follows:
Best earrings: Julianne Moore. They are over scale and yet light and airy. I love that they don’t dangle.
Best gown(s): Jennifer Lopez’s Ellie Saab in apricot tulle is softly magnificent. So long to “Fit and Flares.”
Emma Stone’s apple green Ellie Saab was terrific on a red head.
Jennifer Aniston’s pale pink sheath was so perfectly tailored for her body.
Octavia Spencer’s was a “Wow” for me. As a plus size lady she has a lot of challenges with her hip line…and that dress’s overskirt train was so minimizing.
Tuxedos over all were classic and thankfully much more fitted. Gone are the days of pleated high waisted
trousers. I particularly like the deep gorges which make the guy look slimmer and taller. Banded bow-ties are out and lay down are collars with self bow ties (not Windsors) are my absolute favorite look.
Best necklace: Margo Robbie’s sapphire and diamond creation originally owned by the Duchess of Windsor.
