Featured Designer of the Month: Rosa Clará

For a number of years, the Rosa Clara team had recruited me to carry her line, but I never had room in store for yet another designer. I had seen her stuff in magazines and thought “Nice,” but not nice enough to motivate me for a showroom visit.

Two years ago, while at Market, an unpleasant scenario motivated me to drop a designer that I had had for 25 years. As I left that showroom in a total huff, the reps for Rosa Clara were walking down the hall and recognized me. Their timing was perfect. They begged me to step into their showroom for “just a brief glimpse of our things.”

And I was smitten!

Truly a window closed and door opened….actually it was triple-car-garage door!

I could almost stock my store completely with this line. It has every possible look a bride would want: ball gowns, fit and flares, mermaids, detachable trains, beach weddings, organic and fully beaded. The cool thing about these gowns is that they use laces exclusive for their line, a caulk white bugle bead not available anywhere and the most reasonably priced Mikado fabric I have ever seen.

The gowns are made in Barcelona, Spain, where Rosa Clara is a big, big, big name. She dresses many European celebrities for their red carpet events as well as members of royal families.

Her own wedding was one highly touted in the media. (Not only in a dynastic gown, her bouquet is out of this world!)

Our sales of this collection grow every month and we have brides coming from St. Louis, Wichita and Omaha, just to see them. I suspect our Trunk Show, of these beauties, next week, will be one of our biggest all year.
